Chiselin

I aim to please you but I fail in my own strength.
So you start to chisel and the weight begins to break.
You’re cuttin’ to the core, where you long to be.
I was made for more, this I can see…
So I’ll let myself bend, and break, and fall.
I’m learning the struggle is apart of the call.
It’s painful, it’s tough, sometimes it plain sucks. But never once have you failed to pick me back up.
In the splitting, in the chiseling you’re making something new.
So I’ll count it all joy cause I cant be me without you.
Help me stay rooted as you chip away
the hard parts of my heart that lead me astray.
And one day the chiselin’ will all make sense
When I stand at your feet in my final residence.
For now I’m just a traveler, simply passing thru..
Keep splitting, keep chiseling, make me
me someone new.
Keep splitting, keep chiseling, make me more like you.
Keep splitting, keep chiseling, use me for your glory, show me what to do.
