-ARE WE SUCCESSFULLY PASSING OUR CHRISTIAN VALUES TO GEN Z & GEN ALPHA?

-THE IMPORTANCE OF CHRISTIAN VALUES

Christian values shape our lives through the timeless truth of Scripture.

As evangelical Christ followers, our values—rooted in Jesus’ teachings and the Bible—set us apart. They guide our character and actions to align with God’s will, transcending culture and generations.

-THE HANDOFF CHALLENGE

Are we successfully passing the torch of our values to the next generation?

Boomers and Gen X Christians often know what they believe and why. But over time, some churches assumed these “basics” were understood, creating gaps for Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

-THE GAP IN UNDERSTANDING

Gen Z & Gen Alpha wrestle with applying biblical truth in today’s culture.

For example, they may understand what the Bible teaches on sexuality and identity, but struggle with how to apply it when a classmate—who is kind and respectful—lives differently.

-HOW TO PASS ON OUR VALUES

Here’s how we can hand off our values well:

1. Define values clearly. Show them what Scripture says and how it shapes our beliefs.

2. Teach them to exegete culture. Use the Bible to address cultural questions on sexuality, identity, purpose, and more.

3. Give space for questions. What’s clear to us may not be clear to them—let them ask!

-LIVING OUT OUR VALUES

Keep showing, not just telling:

4. Model the values. Our actions must match our words—whether it’s how we spend time, money, or uphold morals. They are watching.

5. Weave values into daily life. Use car rides, dinner tables, and everyday challenges to highlight how values play out every day.

6. Show values as transformation, not legalism. Share the “why” behind the “what”—values draw us closer to God, like guardrails, not just a set of rules.

-THE LONG GAME

Values take time to stick—stay consistent.

It’s not a one-time conversation but a lifestyle. As Deuteronomy 6:9 says, “Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” Every moment is a chance to pass on the truth.

-LET'S PASS THE TORCH WELL

As parents, pastors, and mentors, let’s disciple the next generation with intention.

Let’s be intentional today—because they’re watching, and learning. Every moment matters!
